  10.        This release note describes patch SG0000189 to IRIX 5.3.

  14.        This patch contains bug fixes for Indy, Indigo, and Indigo2
  15.        systems equipped with Cosmo Compress.  The software cannot
  16.        be installed on other configurations.

  20.        This patch contains bug fixes for Irix 5.3.  The software

  25.        This patch contains fixes for the following bugs in IRIX
  26.        5.3.  Bug numbers from Silicon Graphics bug tracking system
  27.        are included for reference.

  29.           +o Compview fails when the hardware compress option is
  30.             used with images that are either not a multiple of
  31.             sixteen pixels in width, or a multiple of eight pixels
  32.             in height, or are too small for Cosmo Compress to
  33.             handle correctly.  Compview now re-sizes the image when
  34.             these requirements are not met.  This is Silicon
  35.             Graphics bug #249531.

  46.        Because you want to install patches for only the problems
  47.        you have encountered, patch software is not installed by
  48.        default. After reading the descriptions of the bugs fixed in
  49.        this patch, determine the patches that meet your specific
  50.        needs.

  52.        Patch software is installed like any other Silicon Graphics
  53.        software product.  It must be installed from the miniroot.
  54.        Follow the instructions in your _I_R_I_S _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n

  74.        Follow these steps to select a patch for installation:

  76.          1.  At the Inst>prompt, type

  88.          4.  You may find that two patches have been marked as
  89.              incompatible.  If this occurs, you must deselect one
  90.              of the patches.

  102.        To remove a patch, use the _v_e_r_s_i_o_n_s _r_e_m_o_v_e command as you
  103.        would for any other software subsystem.  The removal process
  104.        reinstates the original version of software unless you have
  105.        specifically removed the patch history from your system.
